Rennou™ is Theodent’s patented technology, combining theobromine from cacao with a calcium and phosphate system. In an in vitro enamel remineralization study, theobromine produced comparable enamel remineralization to fluoride at a 71× lower molar concentration.
A separate in situ study investigated dentinal tubule occlusion using theobromine-containing toothpaste. This finding concerns tubule occlusion and does not establish sensitivity relief or patient outcomes.
What the studies found
71×
In an in vitro enamel remineralization study, theobromine produced comparable enamel remineralization to fluoride at a 71× lower molar concentration.
Dentinal tubule occlusion
An in situ study investigated dentinal tubule occlusion using theobromine-containing toothpaste. This describes the study topic and does not promise sensitivity relief.
Apatite crystallites
Research reported apatite crystallites of approximately 2 μm in the presence of theobromine compared with approximately 0.5 μm in control conditions.
The published research
Published research examining theobromine and Rennou™ in relation to enamel remineralization, dentinal tubule occlusion and apatite crystallite formation. Findings are specific to each study’s methods and conditions.
ENAMEL REMINERALIZATION
In an in vitro enamel remineralization study, theobromine produced comparable enamel remineralization to fluoride at a 71× lower molar concentration.
