Theodent is a fluoride-free toothpaste range powered by Rennou™, Theodent’s proprietary theobromine-based technology. Some consumers specifically seek fluoride-free oral care. Theodent offers an alternative approach to enamel care based on Rennou™, without making claims about the safety of fluoride or claiming to outperform every fluoride toothpaste.

What Theodent Uses Instead

Rennou™ is Theodent’s proprietary technology. At its core is theobromine, a naturally occurring compound found in cacao. Rennou™ combines theobromine with calcium and phosphate in an enamel-care system developed to support enamel remineralization.

Research on Theobromine

In an in-vitro study, theobromine achieved comparable enamel remineralization to fluoride at a 71× lower molar concentration. This describes a laboratory finding, not a claim that Theodent is 71× more effective in people. Research has also investigated apatite crystallite formation in the presence of theobromine. These findings should not be read as guaranteed clinical outcomes.

The current EU formulas of Theodent Classic, Theodent Kids and Theodent 300 are fluoride-free, SLS-free, gluten-free and titanium dioxide-free.
